Mark Heath

Director

My name is Mark and I am a Director of SMarter Recruitment. I have worked in recruitment for 21 years in lots of diverse industries from the Potteries to Commercial roles; and gaining vast experience and working with hundreds of clients over the years.

The business started in 2004; recruiting within the Industrial sector, and then within Road and Rail and engineering. I remain a hands-on Director filling bookings and roles in the Industrial and Road & Rail and IT desks and I empower my team to achieve their potential. My vision for the business has always been to establish a forward-thinking agency.

My passion is my family. My interests are Football, especially my undying affection for Liverpool FC. I also enjoy Golf where I have played on some of the most beautiful courses around Europe.

Sarah Heath

Director

I am Sarah; I am a Director of SMarter Recruitment. I have worked for the business for over 5 years initially on the commercial desk; and then proudly setting up the Care Desk. My skills are business strategy, people management and training.

The early part of my career was focused on education, Children’s services, and training delivery before my move into recruitment in 2005.

My passion is my wonderful family. I enjoy walking my dogs, baking, and doing nails and beauty and crochet. I also enjoy fitness and sports; I follow Liverpool FC (by design not marriage). SMarter Recruitment understands that recruitment never stands still, therefore we have implemented a strategy to create an innovative environment for the team, which rewards our staff for their successes.

Joanne Stanfield

Finance / Payroll Manager

Hi my name is Joanne; I am Payroll and Finance Manager and have worked for the business for over 5 years. I know the business inside and out. Working closely with the I specialise in keeping the surplus purse strings tightly shut.

With 25 years bookkeeping and 10 years of payroll experience in various sectors my ability to manage accounts and I pride myself on my reliability (morning noon and night 24/7).

In my spare time I enjoy gardening, reading and baking however it is more likely that you will find me sat on a remote hill with my Collie Dog Sheena enjoying the great outdoors.

Paul Smith

Industrial Recruitment Consultant

My name is Paul Smith. I work on the Industrial desk; and I have worked in recruitment for over 7 years for clients such as XPO Logistics and H&M and Wiggle CRC and also freelance recruitment in all sectors. I am proud to be part of the SMarter Recruitment family; and provide my business development and recruitment expertise. In my first few months I successfully won and managed a contract supplying GI Group for New Look; and other new business. I have vast experience running my own projects and businesses over the years.

I am a friendly person and extremely ambitious. I aim to create long-term business relationships and always give my best for my clients and candidates.

On a personal level; I am a massive Liverpool FC fan (alongside Mark Heath), and I enjoy song-writing and recording music , I am also a professional singer with my group D’Votion with many releases and performing nationally and overseas for 10 years.

My passions outside of work are supporting community organisations and community volunteering. Recently I received recognition from Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Staffordshire for my support to the Staffordshire community during the pandemic providing PPE and food donations.

Ben Sharpe

Commercial Recruitment Consultant

Hi, my name is Ben and I am the Commercial Recruitment Consultant for Smarter Recruitment Services. Since joining the company in June I have been able to venture further into my career as a recruitment consultant, learning new areas and processes, engaging with our fantastic team and tackling new challenges having made the transition from the industrial sector into commercial sector recruitment.

The passion for what I do however, in helping individuals get back into work as well as assisting local businesses across Staffordshire and Cheshire in their recruitment process, provides me with the drive to want to build business, craft long lasting working relationships with clients and provide a service that is proven to be effective as well as swift in providing a solution. Having a role that provides you with the flexibility and creative room in approach to working with businesses and candidates enables you to adapt and mould yourself into the standard in which you want be as a consultant, and I highly value the opportunity that Smarter Recruitment Services has provided me with. As well as this, I am continuously learning and growing within my occupation alongside my fellow colleagues who really do excel in what they do, demonstrating both knowledge of the industry as well as a high degree of professionalism.

During my time away from the desk, I like to play guitar, both electric and acoustic, as well as writing music. This would also explain my love for live music events such as festivals which I attend on a yearly basis. Not this year though… thanks 2020.

Also to many people’s dismay, I am a huge Manchester United fan. Being alone in an office of Liverpool fans also has it’s challenges, with a lot of disagreement surrounding the superiority of our favourite teams. I can’t really blame 2020 for United’s poor run this season however!

I also like to stay active, and have participated in many charity events for various causes that lie close to me. Up until now, some events in which I have competed in include the Chill Swim, Manchester 10k and Tough Guy as well as arranging some of my own events.

Laura Buyers

Care / Branch Manager

Hi my name is Laura Buyers I am Care Recruitment consultant; after working in care for 16 years I enjoy making an impact in the care industry. I have worked in a variety of job roles, including Care Co-ordinator, Training Manager, Quality and Compliance, Health and Social care trainer/assessor and a hands-on care role. I know what is important for both carers and care homes.

Whilst working as a healthcare trainer, I have written and delivered bespoke care packages for external companies across Stoke and The Black Country. I have seen many changes and developments in the care sector, and I am keen to pass this knowledge onto our carers to develop their practice and performance whilst in care homes.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time and doing crafts with my 2 beautiful daughters and walking the dog.
